Skills required:
· As a member of the video application development team, the Application Developer will work closely with our world class Video Editorial staff to conceive, design, build, and deliver a next-generation rich media based applications for WashingtonPost.com using modern technologies, focused heavily on Java.
· Required Skills
· Bachelor's degree required
· 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, debugging and deploying software for server side applications running on Unix platforms making use of modern Java technologies and design patterns.
· Must be proficient in the Java,J2EE, Web Services (both SOAP and REST), Spring, ORM tools like Hibernate/iBatis, XML , XSLT
· Experience with relational databases like Oracle, Postgres and Application servers like glassfish, weblogic.
· Experience with version control systems like SVN, GIT and build tools like Maven, Ant
· Must have superior written and verbal communication skills
· Strong team player with desire to collaborate with others to develop a superior product
Hiring process:
· Phone interview with technical component with Lead Developer
· F2F with Lead Developers and managers up to 4 and they follow a Technical and Job Fit worksheet to asses each candidate on a 1-5 scale. This process takes 4-5 hours with the team.
