EDW Data Architect will lead the design, enhancement and implementation of Enterprise Data Warehouse model (dimensional) catering to reporting and interface data requirements. This individual will work in partnership with key business stakeholders and peer teams to translate requirements into a flexible and scalable dimensional data model/repository. This individual will also architect and design the aggregate layers of the EDW repository. Key Responsibilities: - Translate business requirements into a flexible and scalable dimensional data model (Kimball Methodology)
- Design/enhance 3NF operational data stores
- Develop and/or improve a common data dictionary for business
- Manage data model using Erwin/Model Manager, use of naming file, domains, etc.
- Ensure compliance to documented IT standards
- Write SQL to explore source data, data quality issues, etc.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Oracle performance tuning (e.g. indexing, partitioning)
- Demonstrate working knowledge of BI tools (e.g. Cognos)
- Engage early in the requirements gathering process by establishing rigor with Requirement and business teams
- Identify opportunities to reuse existing data structures to accommodate new business requirements
- Develop data mappings specifications capturing business rules and logic
- Coach data architects, BI architects, QA analysts on right usage of data and the dimensional model
- Manage and mentor junior staff
Qualifications/Requirements: - Four year college degree in computer science, information systems or finance, or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years experience as a dimensional Data Modeler, Data Architect in finance/banking/treasury-related business
- 7+ years experience with enterprise level data analysis and integration work and/or providing data focused systems integration solutions
- Must have multiple full lifecycle project experience in developing DW solutions as an architect and a leader
- Expert skills in identifying and capturing business rules and business requirements
- Ability to present highly technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Ability to produce quality technical analysis covering data, data mapping and process mapping
- Working knowledge and experience with ETL (preferably Informatica) and BI tools (Cognos, etc.)
- Proficient in data modeling tools: ERWIN and Model Manager
- Strong understanding of relational dbs (Oracle, SQL Server etc.) and Oracle/db performance tuning concepts.
- Must have solid SQL skills and be able to perform data analysis
- Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and leadership skills with the ability to quickly build credibility, influence and make recommendations to all levels
- Strong organizational skills – ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment
