Oracle Skills required for day to day operations
- Creating Databases
- Configuring Oracle Network files – Listener.ora, Tnsnames.ora and Sqlnet.ora, etc.
- Managing / maintaining the integrity of all the database environment(s) – Development, QA, Staging, Test, Demo, Production etc.
- Refreshing production data into other environments
- Coalescing table-spaces
- Re-organizing databases
- Rebuilding indexes
- Perform database consistency checks
- Gather database statistics
- Review alert logs and other dump / trace files created by the database(s)
- Analyzing tables and indexes
- Executing DDL statements
- Migrating older database versions to higher version
- Migrating databases from DB2 UDB to Oracle
- Uploading data into databases from other formats (flat files, Excel, etc.)
- Managing the security of the database
- Add / Modify / Delete users
- Managing access rights
- Password management
- Performing database Backup, Restore and Recovery of the database
- Establish and adhere to performance baselines
- Providing technical support to the application support team
- On call support with 24X7
- Coordinating with various teams
- Application support team
