Enterprise Server, Storage & Backup Administrator – wichita(KS) – Long Term
- Operating Systems (OS) installations, configuration, systems integration, systems management and security, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, applying patches and upgrades, data and server backup of Solaris , Linux (SAP environment) & AIX
- Experience with Red Hat Linux and Solaris 10 administration, maintenance and support.
- Troubleshoots networking, Unix/Linux systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems utilizing associated Linux and UNIX command line and management tools.
- Administer, monitor and implement all UNIX servers within the highly available distributed datacenter infrastructure.
- Maintain and manage all aspects of UNIX server maintenance from operating system patching to security updates on a timely basis.
- System administration support for application servers and services.
- Installs and debugs new and upgraded software on server and client platforms, ensuring compliance with current site licenses; designs, programs with scripts.
- Networking experience from basics to advanced OS configurations along with security knowledge
- Experience Network File Systems (NFS), SSH services including standard daemons, protocols and applications, Proficient with some type of scripting or programming language such as Perl and shell scripting,
- Good understanding of Hardware including and Network Area Storage (NAS) devices and load-balancing, clusters, RAID, firewalls, routers, etc
- Solaris 10 or Red Hat Certification a plus
- Through understanding of the purpose of Firewalls and Load Balancers and VPN and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technologies
- Experience with the design, engineering, and implementation of complex storage environments.
- Installs, configures, and manages IBM SAN systems and Cisco.
- Installs, configures, and manages IBM Tape Library.
- Installs and configures Windows, AIX and Linux based storage servers and server software in clustered, highly-available environments; installs patches and upgrades to server hardware, firmware, and/or software.
- Perform troubleshooting and performance monitoring of SAN environment.
- Respond to incident tracking system for SAN-related requests.
- Perform SAN hardware and software maintenance and upgrades.
- Demonstrated working proficiency in SAN fabric management (ISLs, utilization, zoning, masking, etc.).
- Excellent backup job scheduling for file system and database backups
- Understanding of backup theories and terminology – backup levels, file system v. application backup methods, snapshots, etc
- Previous professional experience with Legato Networker, Legato Replistor, Veritas NetBackup, Veritas Backup Exec, CA ARCserve, JP Omniback, Arkeia, Ultrabac or other backup/replication software
- Conduct daily reviews of Net Backup Activity monitor in order to identify unsuccessful backup jobs,
- Ensure the security and integrity of data, data systems, and data networks across the entire organization troubleshoot, and resolve problems associated with backup jobs
- Assist in the administration of the data recovery environment comprised of a Symantec Net Backup Master server, Net Backup Media servers, Quantum tape libraries, virtual tape libraries, and near line storage resources.
- Sound knowledge in Designing and implementing disaster recovery processes and business continuity procedures for re-establishing servers, databases, and operating systems in the event of a disruption, both minor and catastrophic
- Assist in the administration of the data recovery environment comprised of a Symantec Net Backup Master server, Net Backup Media servers, Quantum tape libraries, virtual tape libraries, and near line storage resources.
- Prepare reports on best practices, new technologies, etc., and recommend enhancements and configuration changes to improve and optimize storage and disaster recovery
